Airport Chic

As I prep for my upcoming trip, I keep thinking about how best to be airport chic. Although we'd all like to travel as fashionably as Victoria Beckham, a 16 hr flight across the Atlantic in economy (if unlucky-middle seat) with heels is not posh!
On one hand, Gaga style will certainly not "fly" well.

On the other hand, as comfortably as we'd like to be, a J Hud (I'd still root for her) one-see is a little "too comfortable." This is what I'd wear at home when I'm in a "oh its raining outside and I have nothing to do today but watch bad reality TV shows on my couch" day.

When it comes to airport travel style, a couple of things to keep in mind:
  1. The length of the flight : Shorter flights (1-3) can certainly accommodate a more stylish look.
  2. Destination's Weather: Arriving in a tank top and skinny jeans, no matter how cute you'd look, will not keep you warm in a New York airport in Mid December.
  3. Airport guidelines: By now, most people (I'd hope) have experienced the TSA rules at security checkpoint in airports (shoes, belts, coats and hats off when going though security). With the new body scans and pat down, this even adds an extra time to your check in. Keep this in mind when deciding between a scrappy sandals and a pair of loafers.
  4. The easiest way to go for all may be a tracksuit. You can never go wrong it it. It withstands wrinkle (if in the right material, i.e velour, and color ). It works well for any weather..you can wear the top throughout your flight and when you land , take it off/leave it on depending on  the weather.

Leggings also work well for travel. Just make sure you have a longer top on or your look will fall in the same category as J-Hud's.

My fave look right now-airport chic wise is Kim Kardashian's. This a "tested-and-tried" way to pull of airport chic - using a blazer. You can look as frumpy and comfortable as you want   underneathas long as you top it with a  blazer. Accessories such as a printed scarf  and classic black shades are great way to arrive in style and also hide the tired eyes and wrinkled clothing underneath. If traveling in flat sandals, I'd suggest you carry on a pair of socks in your bag especially for long flights.
