- I am a big advocate of style versus trendy! It pays to know yourself. Discover your inner Coco Chanel or Grace Jones. There's a big difference between having a bohemian style and wearing a bohemian dress.
- Know what works for your body type especially what Flatters you.
- Don't be afraid to have fun with fashion but always make sure you are wearing the clothes and not the other way around.
- Don't aim for brands only..its like walking around with a big sticker on your forehead
- Over time, you'll realize that trends get recycled...Tights becomes leggings, 60's denims are now 'flared', the 80s are now cool.. and before you now it, you can caught up with a closet full of clothes you probably never wear again or duplicates as you already have tons from 2 years ago. I like to filter out trends for what works best for me.
- Always shop in your Closet FIRST!
- Invest in the basics, i.e your LBD, the perfect jeans that makes your butt look big, or the plain black pumps that works with all any outfits
- Know the fine line between "Sexy" and "Raunchy". Sometimes applying the age-appropriate measure can spare you the embarrassment. What worked for college dances may not work for your office Christmas party.
- Have fun with accessories but don't overload. They can truly "jazz up" any outfit
- Break all the rules: Don't take fashion rules to seriously...wear white after labor day or wear a brown top and black skirt.
